Requirements for martyrs

His Holiness the Pope said that a martyr was one who died for Christ, and he had a holy life as testified by others. Accordingly, the following is required for canonisation of a martyr: true faith + a holy life + killed for Christ. Then the Holy Synod will canonise him as a martyr for Christ.
