Remit of the Clerical Council for Personal Affairs
The Holy Synod approved the following decrees:
- The decisions of the Clerical Sub-Council for Personal Affairs are effective only within the designated diocese of this Council, as long as they are in accordance with the Gospel Law and the laws of the Church.
- The information may not be sent by the persons subject to the decisions of the council, but rather by the clergy, via registered mail (or via fax in case the information is urgently needed).
- The decisions of the Clerical Council are issued by a meeting of this Council headed by a Bishop, and they are not unilateral individual decisions.
- In the statement of marriage for adultery, for the party that is not at fault, he/she must confront the other party, even if the reasons seem obvious, to give him/her a chance to clarify the situation before sentencing.
